1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?


My magazine challenges conventions. Compared to other pop music magazines, you rarely see a black female pop star on the front cover. You usually see that on such music magazines like R'n'B, hip hop and rap, just to name a few.

The masthead on real, published music magazines is usually across the whole top of the top, but my masthead is to the left side. This is similar to gossip magazines such as Look and Now. Although, Q Magazine does not follow the conventions of other music magazines, it too has its masthead to the left hand side.
